Sono state tantissime le star che si sono avvicendate sul Tappeto Nero steso per l’occasione ai VMA’s 2011, Mtv Video Music Awards, che celabrano i video clip migliori dell’anno. Come ogni volta oltre ai premi, sono attesissime le performance live degli artisti del momento, che quest’anno vedevano nomi del calibro di Lady Gaga, Adele e Beyoncè che ha annunciato durante la performance stessa di aspettare un bimbo con il marito Jay-Z. Il premio più ambito, Video of the Year, se lo è aggiudicato Katy Perry, con Fireworks, che si è portata a casa anche il premio per la migliore collaborazione per E.T. feat. Kanye West. I premi come Best Male e Female Video sono andati a Justin Bieber con la clip di U Smile e Lady Gaga per Born This Way, che ha vinto anche il premio come Miglio video con un messaggio. Per Miglior Video Pop ha sbaragliato la concorrenza Britney Spears, che conferma il suo status di Principessa del genere.
