La cerimonia di premiazione si terrà il prossimo 28 gennaio 2018 e verrà trasmessa dalla CBS in diretta dal Madison Square Garden di New York. L’award show, per la prima volta organizzato fuori da Los Angeles, verrà presentato da James Corden e vedrà sfidarsi le migliori opere musicali di artisti e compositori pubblicate dal 1 ottobre 2016 al 30 settembre 2016. Contrariamente alle previsioni a dominare la lista delle candidature nontroviamo Ed Sheeran bensi Jay-Z e Kendrick Lamar,: il rapper newyorkese e il rapper di Compton si sono infatti portati a casa rispettivamente 8 e 7 candidature candidature, fra cui quella per Album of the year, la più ambita della serata. Grosse anzi grossissime delusioni per chi si aspettava di vedere qualche membro degli One Direction: né Harry Styles né Niall Horan, i più probabili fra i candidati, hanno ricevuto una nomination per i loro rispettivi album.
